Education
Dr. hab. In 2023, I obtained the degree of habilitation in Humanistic Studies, specifically in Literature, from the Academic Council of Literary Studies at the University of Warsaw.
Ph.D. In May 2003, I completed a Ph.D in Humanistic Studies at the University of Warsaw. My thesis is entitled ‘‘System of Classical Tibetan Grammar, SUM CU PA and RTAGS KYI ’JUG PA, Based on Dharmabhadra’s Si tu zhal lung (1806). It was written under the supervision of Professor Marek Major, University of Warsaw.
M.Phil. In 2001, I completed my M.Phil. in Tibetan and Buddhist Studies at the University of Oslo, Norway. My thesis is entitled ‘‘The Lives of Dngul Chu Yab Sras” (Dharmabhadra 1772-1851 and Dbyangs can grub pa 1809-1887), including a Study of the Religious Expenditure and Tibetan Monetary System in the 19th Century.” It was written under the supervision of Professor Per Kvaerne, University of Oslo.
B.A and M.A. degrees in Buddhist Philosophy:
Abhidharma: In 1993, I studied Abhidharma. The main text was Vasubandhu’s “Abhidharma-kosha” and the Vinaya at the Institute of Buddhist Dialectics, Dharamsala, India.
Madhyamika Philosophy: In the years 1990 to 1992, I obtained the Master of Madhyamika philosophy, which is valued to be equivalent to the Master of Arts (M.A) at the Institute of Buddhist Dialectics, Dharamsala, India. Chandrakirti’s ‘‘Entering the Middle Way” was the main part of the curriculum.
Prajnaparamita Philosophy: From October 1982 to 1983, I learned the Tibetan science of reasoning and that of the mind and logic.
From 1984 to 1989, I obtained the degree of Master of Prajnaparamita (the Perfection of Wisdom), which is considered equivalent to a Bachelor of Arts (B.A.) degree at the Institute of Buddhist Dialectics, Dharamsala, India.
Science of Valid Cognition and
Mind Logic: I studied ten years of commentary on Valid Cognition (tshad ma rnam ’grel) based on Dharmakirti’s commentary on Dignaga’s “Compilation of Valid Cognition, tshad ma kun btus” along with other studies, Prajnaparamita, and Madhyamika.
Grammar, poem, calligraphy and literature: Besides my philosophy studies in Dharamsala, I also studied Classical
Tibetan Grammar Sum cu pa and Rtags kyi ’jug pa with its allied topics
based on “Grammar Commentary of Si tu Panchen called Decorated by Pearl Garland, Si tu sum rtags Mu tig ’phreng mdzes”.
I also studied commentary on a Tibetan poem composed by Bod mkhas
pa Mi pham dge legs rnam rgyal (1618-?). Tibetan history and calligraphy were also studied at the aforementioned institute.
Basic education
Primary school: Tibetan Refugee Primary School (TRP), Sollu Chelsa Tibetan settlement, Nepal.
High school: Jana Jagriti Vocational Middle School, Sollu Sellary, Nepal.
10th class SLC exam: Completed the 10th class board examination (conducted by the Ministry of Education of Nepal, 1978).
Rituals and texts: I spent three years (1979 to the end of 82) at Shelkar monastery (Sollu Chelsa) where I studied Buddhist ritual practice and texts.
Work Experiences
Experience at University of Warsaw:
Since October 1994, I have taught Tibetan language and grammar to students in the Mongolian and Tibetan Studies section of the Department of Turkology and Inner Asian Peoples at the University of Warsaw.
In the same section mentioned above, I also provided lectures on “Methodology of Tibetan Buddhist Practice” and “Special Topic Lecture” to our M.A. students, which included presentations of Tibetan source materials and my own research findings. Also held a seminar for M.A. students.
I also provided lectures on selected topics in Tibetan Buddhist culture and practice to M.A. students of Religion Studies of Asia and Africa, as well as on the everyday living culture of the Tibetan people for students of Cross-Cultural Studies at the Faculty of Oriental Studies at the University of Warsaw.

From 2004 to 2017, I also worked as a senior lecturer at the University of Adam Mieckiewiec, Poznan, where I taught modern Tibetan language and grammar.
Since 2012, I have also taught a semester-long course on Tibetan culture to every newly admitted student of Indology at UAM for a few years.
Jagiellonian Univeristy
During the winter semester of the 2011-2012 academic year, I taught Tibetan Classical Grammar to students in the Cultural and Buddhist Studies section at Jagiellonian University in Krakow.
At the Institute of Buddhist Dialectics
While in the Institute of Buddhist Dialectics, I taught Tibetan grammar to the junior students of the Institute of Buddhist Dialectics, the Tibetan History for the teacher trainees of the Education Department of CTA, conducted at our institute, and the internship workshop on Tibetan grammar for the younger staff trainees of the Central Tibetan Administration, Dharamsala. I also took on the responsibilities of treasurer and disciplinarian, each for a year, at the aforementioned Institute.
Other
I also work as a translator, providing both written and oral translations from Polish into Tibetan and oral translations from Tibetan into English on numerous occasions, for the Office for Immigrant Cases (Urzędu ds.). Cudzoziemców, Taborowa 33, 02-699Warszawa.
From September 8 to 28, 2019, I participated in the “Master of Didactic Workshop” held at the University of Oslo, Norway. The twenty-day-long workshop was co-organized by the Ministry of Education of Poland and the University of Oslo, Norway.
In the summers of 1996, 1997, and 1998, I offered a Tibetan language course for Czech students at Charles University in Prague.
I worked part-time as a cataloguer at the Museum of Asian and Pacific Art in Warsaw and offered a few lectures on Tibetan Buddhism, organized by the same Museum.
In 1997, I participated in organizing an international seminar entitled “The World of Tibetan Culture,” which was held at the University of Warsaw.

On the 21st to 22nd October 2024, I took part in organizing the 1st international conference on “Tibet-Himalayas, Past and Present”, at the University of Warsaw under the patronage of the University of Warsaw and the Faculty of Oriental Studies, UW.
Scientific visit to the Institute of Buddhist Dialectics, Dharamsala, India from 25-27th October 2023; Participation in an open discussion on the legacy of late Venerable Lobsang Gyatso la, the director of the mentioned institute and a lecture on the book, “The Life of the Last Rin Spungs pa Rulers and his Guide to Shambhala” to the students of the Institute of Buddhist dialectics on 28th of Oct. 2023.
On the 5th of July 2022, I presented a paper on “A Political Success of Mdo mkhar zhabs drung Tse ring dbang rgyal at the Time of Political Unrest, Focused on His Autobiography”, at the 16th Seminar on Tibetan Studies, held in Prague, Czech Republic, organized by the International Association for Tibetan Studies (IATS).
In 2019, I presented a paper on “Revival of Shel dkar chos sde Monastery in Exile” at the 15th Seminar on Tibetan Studies, held from 7th to 13th July in Paris, organized by the International Association for Tibetan Studies. Also, I was the chairperson of the session “PS2 Monastic Communities and their Histories”.
On October 22nd to 24th 2018, I presented a paper on “The Tibetan Collection (Pander A and B) at the Jagiellonian Library and its Peculiarities” at “7th International Conference of Oriental Studies: Collections of Texts and Artefacts in Cracow”, organized by the Polish Academy of Arts and Sciences, Cracow and the Faculty of Oriental Studies, University of Warsaw.

On February 2024, at the invitation of the Municipal Museum of Zory, Silesia, I delivered a talk on research findings of the 12th-century Tibetan birchbark manuscript kept at the mentioned museum.

On the 28th of October 2023, on the occasion of Golden Jubilee of the Institute of Buddhist Dialectics I participated in the discussion of the legacy of the late director Lobsang Gyatso and presented a lecture on the book, “The Life of the Last Rin Spungs pa Ruler and his Guide to Shambhala, A study based on the 16th century manuscript, Vidyadhara-the Messenger (Rig pa ’dzin pa’i pho nya)”, at the Institute of Buddhist Dialectics, Dharamsala, India.
On March 5, 2022, on the occasion of the Tibetan New Year (Water Tiger Year) celebration, I gave a lecture on the tradition and symbols of the Tibetan New Year at the Museum of Asia and the Pacific in Warsaw, Poland.
In December 22, 2021, I took part and gave a lecture on “Shambhala in the Manuscript Vidyadhara-the Messenger”, at the International Online Lecture Series on Chinese and Tibetan Buddhist Studies, organized by the Department of Asian Studies, University of Latvia.
On 26th of February 2020, I gave a talk on “The Tibetan Culture and the Current Situation of Tibet” as a part of an event organized by SKN Geografii Ekonomicznej I Badan Regionalnych, SGH Warszawa.
On June 6th 2019, I gave a lecture on “Shambhala According to Rin spungs pa Ngag dbang ’jig grags’ text” at “Seminar on Buddhist Thought and Meditation,” the 2nd of this kind, organized by Research Centre of Buddhist Studies, UW and the Department of Turkologii and Inner Asian Peoples, Faculty of Oriental Studies, UW, Warszawa.

On July 19th, 2017, I gave a lecture at the Institute of Buddhist Dialectics, Mecloed Ganj, Dharamsala, India, on 12 years of personal experience of teaching and research, and academic career.
On July 21st, 2017, I gave a lecture on the formation of verbs and nominal endings at the College of Higher Tibetan Studies, Sarah, Dharamsala, India, based on my personal experience of teaching the Tibetan language.
In 2016, I was invited by Geden Meditation Dharma Center and the Tibet support group in Riga to give a lecture on Tibetan culture and the present situation in Tibet on the occasion of the 80th birthday of H.H. the 14th Dalai Lama in Riga, Latvia.

In November 2024, I received the Scientific Award from Polska Akademia Nauk for the monograph, The Life of the Last Rin Spungs pa Rular and His Guide to Sambhala.
In November 2023, I received a distinction award for my excellent scientific achievement from the Rector of the University of Warsaw.
In 2020, I received a Third Grade individual award from the rector’s office of the University of Warsaw for my scientific achievement of publishing a monograph, “The Life of the Last Rin Spungs pa Ruler and his Guide to Shambhala, A study based on the 16th century manuscript, Vidyadhara-the Messenger (Rig pa ’dzin pa’i pho nya) by Ngag dbang ’jig grags of Rin spungs (translation and comparative text analysis).
In 2017, I received an award from the Rector’s Office of the University of Warsaw for my twenty years of service at the same Institute.
In 2016, I received the Third Grade award from the Rector’s office of the University of Warsaw for publishing a monograph, “Catalogue of the Tibetan Texts in the Pander Collection, Part A (Complete) and Part B (Partial) held by the Jagiellonian Library, Krakow.
In 2010, I was awarded the Third Grade Individual Award for my scientific achievement of publishing a book, “System of Classical Tibetan Grammar”, SUM CU PA and RTAGS KYI ’JUG PA, according to Dharmabhadra’s Si tu Zhal lung (1806), (introduction, text, and annotated translation).
In the year 1993, I was awarded the winner of the debate competition on the topic of ‘‘Organization of Tibetan Political Groups” organized by the Regional Tibetan Youth Congress (RTYC), Dharamsala, India.
In 1990, I was awarded as one of the best Tibetan calligraphers. A calligraphy contest was organized by the Tibet House, New Delhi.

Tibet Related Events and Activities
On September 24, 2025, I delivered a lecture on the Tibetan language and its history at the 29th Festival of Sciences organized by the Faculty of Oriental Studies at the University of Warsaw.
On May 14, 2022, on the occasion of Museum Night (Noc Musealna), I, along with department members, presented a Tibetan folk dance and conducted a workshop on the dance at the University of Warsaw’s Library (BUB).
Since 1994 till today, I have been actively involved in Tibet-related activities organized by Tibet supporters or the Tibetan community in Poland. I have been elected as president and vice president of the Association of Tibetan Community in Poland on multiple occasions for both positions.
Every year, I actively participate in organizing three annual events: the Tibetan New Year celebration, the commemoration of the 10th March Tibetan uprising, and the birthday celebration of H.H. the 14th Dalai Lama. In conjunction with the New Year and the birthday of H.H. the Dalai Lama, we organize cultural presentations for the Polish public. I was a member of the Polish-Tibet Friendship Association in Warsaw.
I gave talks on Tibetan culture and politics to various groups, including schoolchildren and adults.
I was a member of the editorial board of ”Lhag bsam rtsegs pa”, the annual journal of the Institute of Buddhist Dialectics, Dharamsala, India.
